CAST OF AUDIO AWESOME

Diane Alexander

Florence

Having
never done a podcast before I was hesitant to put myself forward for one of such a sensitive nature, but having worked with Sarah before, I knew she would be a massive pillar of support.

Was I nervous? Did I find it emotional? Did I enjoy it? Would I do it again?

Yes to all the above…. And now I’m desperately seeking my next role.

Having danced and performed since an early age, this was a whole new challenge.

I’m not sure what I enjoyed the most.  Thwacking sticks in the garden, the buffet lunch on Sarah’s lounge floor, the day in the studio making weird and wonderful noises, or the camaraderie combo of laughter, tears and profanity… yes there was quite a lot of all of that.  And I loved it.

I’ve played many different roles appearing in straight plays, farce, comedy, musicals, panto, Shakespeare, and I’ve been fortunate to play some wonderful roles.  Either I’m totally awesome or they were desperate for auditionees, probably the latter, but I’m grateful nonetheless.

I hope these podcasts serve purpose, help people and provide a little humour at the same time.

Fun Amdram Roles I've enjoyed....

Diane as Nanny Ogg in a collaborative production of Lords and Ladies (BTG / BEACONSFIELD YOUNG THEATRE) in 2018, directed by Sarah. (Yeah, she was amazingggg)

Lara Parker

Gabby

Lara has enjoyed public speaking from a young age, but didn’t truly discover a love of acting till she left school.

She has been a member of a number of theatre groups and is currently with Teddington Theatre Club.  Her most recent production was The Revlon Girl, but she has also been involved in many shows including

  • Daisy Pulls it off
  • The real Inspector Hound,
  • The Wind In the Willows,
  • Dick Whittington,
  • Breadcrumbs
  • A Month of Sunday’s.

Her favourite role to date has been the wicked witch of the west In the Wizard of Oz.

Lara has thoroughly enjoyed the her whole first experience of audio drama and would love to be more involved with this wonderful genre in the future.

Lucy Shirley

Rachel

Lucy’s love of performance started from a young age.

A keen member of Chalfont Youth Drama, who then embarked upon a degree in Drama and Theatre Studies, and is now regularly seen treading the boards with the St Peter Players amateur dramatics group.

Lucy has a love for strong character roles, with previous roles including:

  • Mayzie La Bird in Seussical the Musical,

  • Julie Johnston in Bad Girls

  • The Evil Stepmother in Cinderella

This is Lucy’s first taste of audio drama and it’s been fantastic to branch out into another area of theatre.

Without the emphasis on facial expressions to convey comedy, the characterisation of Rachel was an exciting challenge!

Kirstin Stansfield

Freya

I am an endo warrior and pcos cyster.

am one of the 1 in 10 in the UK with endometriosis.

I have suffered with infertility related to both these conditions but am lucky to have a 4 year old. In addition, I am also the Head of History at a school in Gerrards Cross and a keen medievalist.

I have been involved in am-dram since 2013 with the St Peter Players in Chalfont St. Peters, South Bucks. In my debut production as a 29 year old I was cast as the 7 year old Alice, in ‘Alice in Wonderland’.

This is my first venture into audio drama. It has been interesting to be involved in a production that just requires you to react to the script and your fellow actors rather than the memorisation of lines and stage directions. Consequently, it felt like a much more emotive experience and there were definitely times when we were all in tears.

Currently, I am channeling this experience by writing and recording my own history lectures for my students during lockdown UK due to Clovid-19, but they are no where near as funny as this!

SARAH GOLDING
WRITER, VA, DIRECTOR PRODUCER

SARAH GOLDING has been as prolific as she can in as much fun audio fiction as her wonderfully bonkers life would allow. She's been eczematic pretty much since birth and asthmatic since 15....

This podcast started as a pipe dream pitch to the PULSE AWARDS program in its' inaugural year, and Sarah is HUGELY grateful to the folks who have helped her to make this happen.

Sarah hopes the AFC podcast helps folks to get informed, to get proactive about finding information and to connect with pals and other folks who can maybe help them in times when ...life gets ...hard.

Sarah is sure you'll love her actual real life pals as much as she does, and sends hearty thanks and chocolate biscuits (some gluten free!) to the brilliant women in this show.

Sarah revels in producing fun audio and started Quirky Voices in 2018 having been voiced e acting since 2016... and was proud to see the creative teams win AUDIOVERSE AWARDS last year for her Quirky MOONOLOGUE SESSIONS, which were released last year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landings by the USA.

What is even more exciting is the offshoots of show that have continued to develop as a result of this 2019 Quirky new writing competition, and so Sarah cannot be happier with the inspiration creativity in ensemble gives. Look out for One Star by Jeremy Ellet (Subjective Truth) and Artemis by Faith Mcquinn (Boom / Margaritas and Doughnuts).

Acting is Sarah's first love though - but she keeps getting distracted by shiny other things....

FEEL FREE TO CONTACT HER FOR VOICE WORK, DIRECTING, VOICE ACTOR WORKSHOPS, PODCAST WORKSHOPS, PODCAST FESTIVALS OR PRODUCTION ORGANISATION!

FAYE FARTHING

CAMPAIGN MANAGER FOR ENDOMETRIOSIS-UK

Faye is my expert of choice on the pod for the first 3 episodes of Anyone F’Coffee.

When times got strange and the world went on lockdown, the medical professional contact Sarah had as her endometriosis expert was deployed elsewhere, and it became impossible to
find someone in such a short time period. After nurturing a relationship for a good few months, Sarah had ALSO been in contact with friendly folks from the Endometriosis-uk charity previously,  and when the need arose, Faye very kindly volunteered to help answer my questions.

Thanks so much Faye! I am sure her advice has made a great difference to some.

Please do contact her via the charity website or via

Tracy kindly offered to speak to me to help with more information on where folks who have

PERI NATAL  / POST NATAL DEPRESSION

can get help. With thanks to my mum, Jackie, Barbara, and Sarah for helping me finally find my medical expert for these episodes!

Tracy was amazing and provided most of the links you see on this site, so I am truly gratfeful to her for giving me the time and the guidance for folks to answer the same three questions I am asking of all medical professionals and helpful folks on this show -

1)
How and where can someone with or suspecting hey have this condition find information and help?

2) How can they help themselves?

3) When do the folks with or suspecting they have this conditions need to recognise
that they need help?

THANK YOU TRACY, YOU HAVE BEEN MORE THAN AMAZING, AND I APPRECIATE THE TIME YOU TOOK TO SHARE YOUR EXPERTISE.
